Shooting Lesson
Without a doubt, each and every single one of you wants to shoot your weapon as accurately as possible. This is feasible. With practice, dedication, and understanding of your weapon you really can be a deadly marksman. Whether you have a giant mule deer buck standing broadside at 600 yards, a bull elk bugling in the dark timber at 50 yards, or a few grouse flush up in front of you. We teach you and get you the reps you need to make each shot count.
Our rifle specific class is a 3 hour session. Provided for you are rifles, ammunition, one meal, drinks and ear protection. You are more than welcome to bring your own weapon and we will work with you to bring your skillset to the next level.
With our rifles, we begin by diving into the system in detail to get you familiarized with how each aspect works together. The instructors want you to have a deep understanding of how the scope works with that specific rifle. We follow that with teaching the proper techniques for a few different shooting positions that you may encounter in the field, dry fire and break bad habits before live ammunition is sent down range. You need to be 100% comfortable behind your weapon and going through the motions before moving forward.
Target acquisition is key to approaching and properly setting up the rifle, getting in the scope, dialing for distance and holding for wind. We start at 400 yards, instructors describe target location and spot for the shooter. Our goal is to get you to hit a 12”x12” steel square at 1000 yards by the end of the lesson. By then, you should be confident not only in the system we use, but in your ability to take a clean, ethical shot at a longer distance than you may have considered before.
The Systems we use
We have teamed up with Bergara rifles and Huskemaw optics to bring you a very simple to use system. Bergara rifles uses the most technically-advanced barrel manufacturing techniques, state-of-the-art machinery and an unwavering commitment to quality. They have become the barrel source of numerous top-tier gun manufacturers in both Europe and the United States. Huskemaw offers a patented yardage turret that makes dialing your scope easy. Range and dial. The turrets on the scopes are custom made for each weapon based on specific bullet data, ballistics, elevation, and temperature. Within their tactical scope series, they have an internal bubble level that keeps your head on the gun and your eyes in the scope. At a longer distance, you no longer need to raise your head to find your level and reset on the trophy in front of you. Up to 30x zoom can be had on Huskemaw’s tactical series, which makes “aim small, miss small” quite literal. Provided in their scopes is a simple crosshair system with hashmarks for wind holds when the time comes. On the turrets, wind hold calls for a 10 mph wind is marked above specific distances. Read the wind at your barrel, calculate your windhold, and you have the hashmark you will use as a crosshair. No more guesswork.
Fully Loaded multi-weapon range
Whether you’re into rifles, bows, or shotguns, we have it all here at your disposal.
Our rifle range is among the best around the area. You are immersed fully in a realistic setting of a deep canyon with any natural element present at anytime. Across the canyon from the shooting platform, rocky ledges, ranging from 400-1500 yards, are scattered around. Pick one and send it. Our instructors have also spent the time to set steel at a few select distances and locations ranging from 400-1000 yards.
From the same platform, we are able to fly clay pigeons for those that enjoy shooting trap, decoying waterfowl, or flushing upland birds. Bring your shotgun, some shells and enjoy the real world practice.
Just further on the ranch we have a 3D archery course. Different animals at a multitude of distances placed in realistic scenarios you may encounter this upcoming season.
